You're Right.

We’ve all heard the saying before.

“You can do anything that you put your mind to.”

Growing up, it just sounded like a cliche, something that someone said just to try and sound motivational and inspiring. The crazy thing is, the people that I thought were trying too hard turned out to be right.

One thing that I’ve come to see come to fruition more and more over the past few months is the idea of putting your mind and energy towards something that you want to do. One thing that I attribute a lot of my success to is writing down my thoughts. I started writing during my freshman year of high school. At the time, I was trying to write just to release some of the negative emotions that I was feeling since I didn’t really feel like I had anyone to talk to. Those negative thoughts eventually led to “Okay, well now I want better for myself.” With that, I started to write about different emotions, desires even. Instead of just letting the negative emotions take over, I tried to “lie” to myself on paper, starting to write things down like “I am happy” and “I love myself.” Eventually, I started to believe it. Then, I realized, I really did believe in those thoughts somewhere deep down in my head and it was just my truth trying to come out. It wasn’t until over 4/5 years later where I was truly happy, but at that time, it was a step.

What started as an emotional outlet for me turned into an essential part of my daily routine. One of the first things that I do in the morning when I wake up is write down how I’m feeling and what I want to accomplish throughout the day or week. I try to get any emotions, whether positive or negative, on to paper and out into the universe just so I can get rid of that energy. As I’m writing, I constantly review the goals I’ve written down in previous days, weeks, months, and even years. Which brings me to my point. In the Fall of 2018, I started brainstorming some of the goals that I had for 2019 and what I wanted to accomplish. The list ranged from a variety of things from becoming a better story teller to being able to travel the world for free to having better posture. The list of my goals touches a bunch of aspects of my life. However, one portion of my goals is a list of companies that I wanted to be able to work with in the coming year. Every morning when I wake up and every night before I fall asleep, I read these goals to engrain them into my mind.

Over the last eight months, Ive been blessed with working with so many different companies that I honestly wouldn’t have thought I would’ve been able to work with this early into my “career.” Some of those companies include:

SLAM

Overtime

Finishline

Eastbay

Golden State Warriors

Stance Hoops

Under Armour

Adidas

Body Armor

Modern Notoriety

The reason I want to put this out there is to emphasize the fact that you honestly and truly can do anything that you set your mind to. That’s where it all starts. If you believe that you can do something, you’re right. You can do it. The opposite is true as well. If you believe that you can’t do something, you’re absolutely right. For me, it took writing things down to keep my mind in the right place. I mean, you can’t go anywhere without knowing where you’re going, right? Might as well run around like a headless chicken at that point.

With all of that being said, let’s all speak our goals and dreams into existence. Leave a comment down below with your craziest goals and dreams. Nike said it best. It’s only crazy until you do it.

To Live and Prosper.
